3. Look for a Frozen or Kinked Water Line

The thin line that feeds water to the ice maker can freeze up or get pinched, especially if the freezer is set very cold. If no water is reaching the unit, no ice gets made. Gently check that the line is not bent or kinked behind the fridge, and look for any visible ice blockage.

4. Check the Water Filter

A clogged or overdue water filter restricts water flow, and a starved ice maker makes little or no ice. As a rule, replace the filter about every 6 months. If you cannot remember the last time you changed yours, it is probably due.

5. Confirm the Water Supply Valve Is Open

Behind or under the fridge there is a small shutoff valve that feeds water to the unit. If it was closed during cleaning, a move, or a plumbing repair, the ice maker has nothing to work with. Make sure it is fully open.

6. Look for Ice Jammed in the Mold or Bin

Sometimes a clump of frozen-together cubes jams the mechanism or blocks the bin. Pull the bin, clear any stuck ice, and check that nothing is wedged in the ice maker itself.

7. Try a Reset

Some models have a reset button or a reset routine in the manual. If yours does, give it a try after the checks above.

Give It 24 Hours

Here is the part people forget: ice making is slow. After you fix something, it can take a full 24 hours for the freezer to catch up and start dropping cubes again. So make your fix, then be patient before deciding it did not work.
